Draft Thread (1/2)
Just shipped GitHub OAuth with Better Auth. 🔐

Raw OAuth tokens are now encrypted with AES-256-GCM before hitting the database. Clean security. 1/2
Also removed 150+ lines of custom cookie verification. Adapter-first from here. Code is lighter. ⚡️ 2/2

The Friction
Without BIP OS
  • You push commits, then stare at a blank Twitter draft wondering what to say.
  • You spend 20–40 minutes translating code changes into something postable — every single day.
  • You lose your writing flow mid-feature. The post never gets written.
  • You go silent for weeks. Your build momentum dies publicly.
  • After 3 months, you have no record of what you actually shipped.
With BIP OS
  • Push your commits. BIP OS handles the rest — overnight, automatically.
  • Wake up to clean X threads, a LinkedIn draft, and a changelog entry. Ready to copy.
  • Your development flow is never interrupted. The content is a side effect of building.
  • Your calendar streak holds. Your audience sees consistent progress.
  • After 3 months, you have a complete archive of everything you shipped.

Building is hard enough. Your commit history is a goldmine — you just need a tool that reads it.

Workflow

Three steps to consistency

From local git commits to clean public updates. Your development flow is never interrupted.

01

Connect specific repositories

Authenticate your profile first. Grant access to only the specific repositories you choose. We only request read-only metadata and contents scopes.

02

Noise-filter processes metadata

BIP OS analyzes commit messages and file lists. Lockfiles, dependency bumps, and media assets are ignored. We draft updates without ever exposing raw code text.

03

Get drafts. Copy. Post.

Review your X thread, LinkedIn post, and changelog entry. Tweak with the Copilot or copy as-is. Your streak advances automatically.

Core Engine

Engineered for developer consistency

Transform raw codebase activity into structured updates. Zero manual writing, zero friction, complete privacy.

Security First

Progressive GitHub App Integration

Select specific repositories for read-only access. Zero write permissions required, and raw source code never leaves your computer—we only analyze lockfiles and metadata.

How to get the best results

A step-by-step setup walkthrough and best practices to maximize the quality of your build-in-public updates.

01

Sign up with progressive OAuth login

Click 'Connect GitHub' to create your account. This initial step only authenticates your profile identity and basic profile information. Your dashboard starts completely clean, with zero repository access granted upfront.

02

Install the GitHub App on specific repos

From your dashboard, click 'Connect Repository' to open the GitHub App setup. Select only the specific projects you're actively building in. By using a GitHub App, you grant read-only metadata access strictly to selected repos, rather than blanket account visibility.

03

Write descriptive, action-oriented commit messages

Since BIP OS reads commit metadata instead of raw codebase contents, the quality of your updates depends directly on your commit messages. Use descriptive messages like 'feat: add social login via Better Auth' rather than vague ones like 'update' or 'fix bug'. Give the engine actual logical context to work with.

04

Calibrate your voice using Copilot instructions

Use the Copilot revision box early and often. Add instructions like 'make it more technical', 'remove hashtags', or 'explain the architectural trade-offs'. Each instruction refines the prompt model and teaches the system your natural writing voice for future drafts.

05

Incentivize real shipping, not publishing volume

Your daily streak advances when you push actual commits, not when you publish posts. Use the streak calendar as a tool to maintain coding momentum in the editor. Treat social posts as a natural byproduct of your development habit.

Differentiation

Why BIP OS

Not a generic AI social-content generator. Here is what makes us specifically different.

Generated from commits, not prompts

Competitors ask you to write a summary first. BIP OS reads your commit metadata and file change manifests — with zero raw source code access. The content is honest because it's derived from what you actually built, not what you say you built. No marketing layer between code and copy.

Copy-paste by design. Zero posting permissions.

We never ask for your social media API keys or posting credentials. BIP OS does not auto-post — you retain full editorial control. No risk of an accidental automated post. This is a deliberate security choice.

Habit builder first, content engine second

The calendar streak is designed to incentivize daily codebase commits — not daily posting. Consistent shipping is the metric. The content output is what you get for showing up, not the reason you show up.

Complements your existing scheduler

BIP OS doesn't compete with Buffer, Typefully, or Hypefury. We produce the raw, ready-to-post copy. Use whatever publishing stack you already prefer. We're the content engine — you control distribution.

Proof

Built with BIP OS

No fabricated testimonials. We use BIP OS to document our own build. Every piece of content you see from us was drafted by the tool — then reviewed and posted by a human.

Questions

FAQ

Everything you need to know about our privacy-first GitHub App integration, security, and developer workflow.

Does BIP OS have access to my private source code?

No. BIP OS is designed to be privacy-first. By migrating to a progressive GitHub App model, we only request Metadata: Read-only and Contents: Read-only scopes. This allows us to retrieve commit history logs, commit text, and changed file paths. We do not read, index, or store your actual source code contents. Your proprietary logic stays local and secure.

What is progressive onboarding?

Unlike legacy platforms that request broad repo access during signup, progressive onboarding isolates authentication from resource tracking. When you sign up, we authenticate your identity via GitHub OAuth requesting only basic profile and email. Your dashboard starts completely empty. You only connect repository access later when you explicitly decide to monitor a project.

How are my GitHub credentials and repository tokens stored?

BIP OS does not store long-lived OAuth tokens for repository access. Instead, our backend utilizes a cryptographic GitHub App certificate (.pem file) to request temporary, short-lived installation access tokens. These tokens expire automatically after 60 minutes. Any long-lived OAuth login data in our database is securely encrypted at write-time using AES-256-GCM.

Does BIP OS auto-post to Twitter/X or LinkedIn?

No. BIP OS is strictly copy-paste by design. We never ask for your social media account API keys, publishing credentials, or write tokens. The platform drafts updates inside your local dashboard, and you choose when and where to copy and publish them. This ensures zero risk of automated, unwanted, or buggy posts.

How does the noise-filter understand my commits?

When a commit ingestion is triggered (either daily or on-demand), our engine parses the file changes list. It automatically discards lockfiles (e.g. package-lock.json, pnpm-lock.yaml), configuration boilerplate, build assets, and image assets. This ensures only logic-bearing file paths and commit descriptions are analyzed by our LLM prompts, keeping generated drafts highly relevant to actual product changes.

Can I limit access to specific repositories?

Yes. The progressive GitHub App flow lets you choose "All repositories" or "Only select repositories". You can grant access to only one repository and add others one-by-one as needed. You can also revoke access instantly directly from your GitHub Developer settings interface.
